She Speaks in Cycles: Your Body, the Moon, and the Art of Coming Home to Yourself
On cyclical wisdom, sacred living, and the art of coming home to yourself
There is a rhythm running through you.
It has always been there. In the natural rise and fall of your energy through the month. In the days that feel expansive and alive, and the days that quietly ask you to turn inward. In the moments of creative fire and clarity, and the moments that call for stillness and genuine restoration. In the body that moves through her own tides, regardless of what the diary demands of her.
This rhythm is not random. It is not a design flaw or an inconvenience to be managed. It is not something to be optimised, overridden, or pushed through.
It is the most honest and intelligent thing about you.
You are a cyclical being. Your energy, your emotions, your creativity, your need for rest and for expansion do not move in a straight line. They never did. And the more you learn to listen to those rhythms rather than override them, the more deeply you come home to yourself.
That is what this blog is about.
The Design Beneath the Doing
Somewhere along the way, most women absorb a particular story about their bodies and their energy. The story goes something like this: consistency is a virtue. A good day is a productive day. Energy should be reliable, steady, and available on demand. If yours is not, something needs fixing.
This story is not true. But it is pervasive, and it shapes the way an enormous number of women relate to themselves.
The truth is that your energy is designed to move in cycles, not in a flat, unvarying line. Your body has a natural rhythm of expansion and contraction, of outward movement and inward rest, of creative fire and quiet integration. This rhythm is not a limitation. It is a form of profound intelligence.
When you stop trying to be consistent in the way the world demands and start working with the rhythms that are actually yours, something fundamental shifts. You stop fighting yourself. You start listening. And in that listening, something that may have felt like an obstacle begins to reveal itself as a gift.
Living cyclically is not about doing less. It is about doing the right things at the right time, in genuine alignment with your own nature. It is one of the most practical and powerful expressions of Sacred Reclamation available to you.
The Moon as Your Mirror
The most immediate and accessible guide to cyclical living is one that has been overhead every night of your life.
The Moon moves through her complete cycle in approximately 29 days, from the dark stillness before the New Moon through the expanding light of the waxing phase, to the full luminosity of the Full Moon, and back through the releasing energy of the waning phase to the quiet threshold of the Dark Moon once more.
This is not simply a celestial event happening at a safe distance from your daily life. The Moon governs the tides of the ocean, and the human body is largely water. Her influence is woven into the physical world in ways that are both measurable and deeply felt.
But beyond the physiological, the lunar cycle offers something even more valuable: a map. A consistent, reliable, monthly rhythm that you can begin to notice in yourself, in your energy levels, your emotional landscape, your creativity, your need for connection and your need for solitude.
The New Moon is a time of intention and beginning. Energy is often inward and quiet, oriented toward planting rather than harvesting. The waxing phase that follows carries a natural momentum, a gathering of energy and forward movement. The Full Moon brings things to light, illuminating what is ready to be seen, felt, or released. The waning phase invites reflection and letting go. And the Dark Moon, the days before the new cycle begins, is one of the most sacred and undervalued thresholds in the month: a time for deep rest, honest reckoning, and the kind of stillness that makes genuine new beginnings possible.
None of this is a system to follow perfectly. It is a rhythm to begin noticing. To bring your awareness gently toward, and discover what is already true for you.
If you would like to go deeper into working with the Moon and understanding what her cycle has to offer your own Sacred Reclamation, my guide She Has Always Been There is a beautiful place to begin. It is a gentle, illustrated introduction to the Moon, her phases, and how to begin working with her wisdom in your own life. You can receive your free copy here.
Your Nervous System as Sacred Messenger
Your nervous system is the living intelligence that runs through your entire body. She is not a clinical abstraction. She is the felt sense of your inner world: the tightening in your chest when something feels wrong, the softening in your shoulders when you finally feel safe, the aliveness in your body when you are doing something that is genuinely yours.
Your nervous system speaks in sensations. In energy and fatigue, in openness and contraction, in the quality of your sleep, your digestion, your capacity for connection. She is constantly communicating, and she does so in the language of the body rather than the language of the mind.
When you begin to live in genuine relationship with your cyclical nature, when you start to honour the natural rhythm of expansion and restoration rather than demanding constant output, your nervous system responds. The body that has been asked to override her own knowing begins, slowly and in her own time, to soften. To trust. To offer you information you were previously moving too fast to receive.
This is not a technique. It is a different orientation toward yourself entirely. One in which your body is not something to manage but someone to listen to. A sacred messenger with a great deal to offer, if you are willing to be still enough to hear her.
What does your body feel like right now, beneath the level of thought? Not what you think you should feel. What is actually present, in your chest, your shoulders, your belly, in this moment?
What Living Cyclically Actually Looks Like
Living in rhythm with yourself does not require a perfectly ordered life or an elaborate daily practice. It begins, as most things worth doing begin, with a simple shift in attention.
It might look like pausing at the New Moon to ask yourself what feels most alive and worthy of your energy in the coming cycle. Not an ambitious goal-setting session, but a quiet, honest question: what matters most to me right now?
It might look like noticing during the waxing phase where your energy naturally wants to go, and following that rather than defaulting to whatever is loudest on the list.
It might look like honouring the Full Moon as a moment of genuine reflection: what has come to light this cycle? What am I ready to acknowledge, celebrate, or release?
It might look like protecting the Dark Moon days as genuinely sacred time. Not filling them. Not pushing through them. Letting them be what they are: a threshold, a rest, a necessary darkness before the new beginning.
And woven through all of it, the practice of listening to your body. Not asking her to perform on a schedule, but checking in. What do you need today? What feels true right now? What would genuine nourishment look like in this moment?
This is not passive living. It is one of the most active and intentional ways of being available to you. Because you are not simply reacting to what the world demands. You are choosing, again and again, to be in genuine relationship with yourself.
That is Sacred Reclamation in its most lived, daily, ordinary and extraordinary form.
A Place to Live This Way
Understanding that you are a cyclical being is one thing. Having a dedicated space to actually live that way, month after month, in community, with genuine support, is something else entirely.
This is what The Sacred Sanctuary offers.
A held, sacred monthly membership for women who are ready to stop moving through their lives on autopilot and begin returning to themselves with intention. Not through consuming more content or working through another programme. Through being genuinely held as they do the quiet, honest work of remembering who they are.
Each month inside The Sacred Sanctuary is built around a reclamation theme and woven through with the rhythm of the lunar cycle. At the start of the month, your workbook arrives, a genuine companion for your inner work, not a task list to complete. Each day carries a gentle invitation, three deep journaling prompts, and an affirmation to anchor the work in your body.
The Full Moon, Dark Moon, and New Moon are honoured within its pages, so that the cycle you have been reading about in this blog becomes something you actually live inside.
Around the Dark Moon each month, we gather on Zoom for a sacred sister circle, a space of collective witnessing, release, and renewal. And at the close of the month, a live group coaching call brings everything together, turning reflection into clarity and insight into something embodied and real.
Woven throughout, a growing library of guided meditations is yours to return to whenever life asks you to come back to yourself.
This is not a course with a finish line. It is a rhythm you return to, month after month, the way the Moon returns to her own cycles. The way you, perhaps, are only just beginning to return to yours.

Coming Home
There is a particular quality to the experience of living in rhythm with yourself. It is not dramatic. It does not announce itself loudly. It is quieter than that, and more real.
It is the sense of being in genuine relationship with your own life rather than running slightly behind it. Of knowing what you need and feeling able, more often, to honour that. Of moving through your days with a quality of presence and intention that feels, simply, like yourself.
This is what coming home to yourself actually feels like. Not a destination reached once and held forever, but a practice returned to. A rhythm you learn to trust. A body you begin, slowly and tenderly, to befriend.
The Moon has been keeping this rhythm overhead for as long as you have been alive. Your body has been moving in her own cycles for just as long. The conversation between them has always been available to you.
You are simply, perhaps for the first time, choosing to listen.
